Small-scale energy production

“Having had no experience in 3D printing prior to this project, the I2P lab was extremely helpful in giving us the knowledge, experience, and know-how to get this project done effectively and timely. They helped us during the set up process and design process when we were trying to determine the most effective way to make the tower and nacelle for our application,” Cody said.

In this video, junior mechanical engineering students Cody White, Tim Allman, and Jeff Rodine discuss the wind turbine they created for a mechatronics course at CSU. The turbine can autonomously detect wind direction to generate maximum amount of power, showing how wind turbine technology is implemented on a small scale. I2P helped Cody, Tim, and Jeff print the turbine’s tower and nacelle, which is housing for the turbine’s generator and sensor.
